Max Baucus, D-Montana said, "Too often, the  mal-distribution of income in America
has gone up way too much.  The wealthy are getting way too wealthy and the middle
income class is left behind."  He added that the socialist Obamacare will have the
effect of addressing that mal-distribution of income in America.  Is that what
our Founding Fathers had in mind?

How can anyone be a Democrat

Too easy. First, you have to have a brain.

Aw, shucks, let's look at what you have to believe to be a Republican....

1. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.

2. The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.

3. Government should relax regulation of Big Business and Big Money but crack down on individuals who use marijuana to relieve the pain of illness.

4. "Standing Tall for America" means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India.

5. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all humankind without regulation.

6. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

7. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

8. Group sex and drug use are degenerate sins unless you someday run for governor of California as a Republican.

9. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

10. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our longtime allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

11. HMOs and insurance companies have the interest of the public at heart.

12. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

13. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.

14. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

15. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is a solid defense policy.

16. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

17. The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.

18. You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have a right to adopt.

19. What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the 1980s is irrelevant.

20. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist; but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony

...and I have heard your "Most Intelligent Listeners" (and YOU, BTW...) spew all these.

1. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.

Doesn’t matter if you’re a conservative radio host or not, all drug addicts are a morally failing, and they both need our prayers.

2. The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.

The UN should be used as needed. If their priorities agree with the that of the US, then we should use them as cover, otherwise ignore them.

3. Government should relax regulation of Big Business and Big Money but crack down on individuals who use marijuana to relieve the pain of illness.

Relaxing regulation helps business hire and grow. I don’t see the relationship here, but rest assured, when the majority of Americans think marijuana should be available for pain relief, it will be, just like alcohol was. Health Care law is the only law I can think of that is actually in force despite the wishes of the majority of Americans, that is why it will not stand.  (Besides the tax code, but Republicans just want tax reform, we know we need some essential government functions, especially our military)

4. "Standing Tall for America" means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India.

When Unions and Government Regulations make it more profitable to move over seas for production, you shouldn’t be screaming at business, you should be screaming the root cause, unions and Government Regulation.

5. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all humankind without regulation.

A woman does have the right to make decisions for her own body, but once another life is involved, she does not have the right to make a decision for that life and it is our duty to make sure that life is represented.  Just because you are a parent, doesn’t mean you can kill your kids.  http://www.nrlc.org/abortion/wdlb/wdlb.html

6. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

Jesus never hated anyone.  Jesus hated sin. God/Jesus, as the supreme creator of this world, define sin for us.

7. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

If you will look at history , you will see that the Republican Party is the party that takes care of our military.  Democrats seem to loathe the military.  Bill Clinton for example and most recently Barbara Boxer with her disdain asking to be called senator instead of mam, as if it was meant in a negative way. Add in Nancy Pelosi’s abuse of military aircraft.

8. Group sex and drug use are degenerate sins unless you someday run for governor of California as a Republican.

Group sex and drug use are degenerate sins, period.  We have bad people in both parties. Arnold Schwarzenegger is not a typical Republican.

9. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

Distributing condoms is an admission that the battle is lost.  Ultimate victory is abstinence.

10. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our longtime allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

Sounds like what Nobama did to Israel.  Is that what you are talking about?

11. HMOs and insurance companies have the interest of the public at heart.

You think this governement does? HMOs and insurance companies are entities like you and me.  We work to provide for our families and buy things we want. We don't want anyone telling us how much we can make.  If what we demand is unfair, someone else will do it cheaper. It is called free enterprise.

12. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

What makes you think we are providing health care for all Iraqi’s?

13. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.

Global warming is a disputed science.  Creationism is the truth.  It is part of  this country’s heritage.  Read the founding fathers documents or you can listen to them here.

http://www.learnoutloud.com/Catalog/Politics/U.S.-Government/The-Founding-Documents-Podcast/19473

I don’t know of anyone disputing that tobacco is linked to cancer.

14. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

People and priorities change.

15. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is a solid defense policy.

Lying, and lying under oath, can you make that distinction? That is what Clinton did. Bush on the other hand, presented the same intelligence to congress that he had been presented, and many Democrats made the same interpretation.  If the intelligence was bad, it is not Bush’s fault. Willful deception is the distinction here.

16. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

Each state has defined what marriage is. Most say between a man and a woman, based on the Christian heritage of our nation and this state. Just like marijuana, when the majority of us think it needs to be changed, it will be changed.

17. The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.

I think information on both is out there.

18. You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have a right to adopt.

Considering the hanging chads, and other irregularities, Ashcroft had a duty to make sure the election process was handled properly. Read about it here:

http://www.studentnews.cnn.com/2001/LAW/03/07/ashcroft.voting.rights/index.html

19. What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the 1980s is irrelevant.

I can honestly tell you that I do not know what Bush did in the 80’s or what Clinton did in the 60’s.

20. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist; but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony

I will have to be honest and tell you, I don’t really see any difference in China and Cuba. Both are communist dictatorships, both are oppressive governments.

Gee, those poor things got on this post, too....

How can anyone be a Democrat?

I used to think they were just like me... with a belief in God, Country, and Family.  But then Pelosi and Reid got my attention.  Now, whenever I wonder the same as you're wondering, I just refer to the DSM-IV.  That book has become almost like a Bible when it comes to Democrats.... it's always able to provide "Democratic" answers.

Poor Faye.

Like I said, your own personal copy of the DSM-IV (get number V, it's going to be great!)
must only have the sections that apply to you....

     DSM-IV-TR=318.2                                                 DSM-IV-TR=290.10

Especially the last one. Need some hay there? Mad much?

[---     " Which side of the fence? If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!  If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn’t buy one. If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.      If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat. If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.      If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life. If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.      If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. A Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.      If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels. Democrats demand that those they don't like be shut down.      If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church. A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.   If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.      If a Republican reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh. A Democrat will delete it because he's "offended".
